My rubber thumbrest cushion fell apart during practice today. It was one of a 5-pack I bought quite some time ago. One of the other ones fell off somewhere and I never found it.
I got looking for the rest of the 5-pack, still in the little plastic bag they came in, which I've laid eyes on multiple times somewhere in the house. Now I can't find it. I've looked everywhere that could possibly make any sense. It's driving me nuts.
So my question is, where the aitch did I put that pack of thumbrest cushions?

LOL, thanks for the tongues in cheeks. I ordered a pack from an Amazon - those women have everything. Meanwhile, I wrapped two bandaids around the thumbrest. Patent pending.

If you're only looking for something to feel softer, Hans Moennig (and most of his repair customers) used to use rubber surgical tubing - cut enough off a tube to cover the thumb rest and push it on. Once you find a source of tubing, a couple of feet might last through a lifetime of playing. If one gets gummy or tears, just replace it at almost no cost.
I should add that I haven't found this solution to work well with adjustable thumb rests. Their shape doesn't work well with the tubing.

...not to mention, that before cut to size for a thumb rest its longer length makes it "more difficult to develop legs and vanish," as backup thumb rests are prone to do among our clarinet gear...
