Returning back to use after long storage

Hi. I purchased an R13 clarinet in 1987 from a second hand shop. It looks to be manufactured in 1964 (s/n 812**)
I had it professionally cleaned and new pads installed.
It has been stored it in the original case in a cool room since that time.
Would there be anything you would suggest I have done to the clarinet before using it?

ArtBC,

You may want to replace the original case first. Better padding and it has not been a haven for mites of any kind.

You need to oil the keys and maybe the bore as well.

Have it checked over and the bore oiled just to be on the safe side as the weather is going to start turning soon. Get it good to go for when winter sets in and humidity levels drop.

Best to have all the keys removed when oiling the bore as bore oil will inevitably get into toneholes and ultimately onto the pads. That way, any oil that does get into the toneholes can be cleaned out easily without any keywork getting in the way.

Then the keywork can be oiled as it's reassembled which is especially important what with it being from the '60s as it probably hasn't got stainless steel screws.
