I only the other day realised that there are versions of this piece (Prelude to afternoon of a faun) for clarinet and piano. A quick (admittedly not extensive) search and I couldn't easily find a recording of this... Has anyone played one of the various arrangements, and have an edition they recommend et? Or just not worth the bother?

Donald: I have never run across an arrangement of Prélude à L'Après-midi d'un Faune for clarinet and piano, but the one for piano, flute and clarinet works beautifully. I seem to recall it was arranged by Mr. Webster. This piece requires a flute! It would lose its dream-like character without the flute.

Yes I own the Webster trio and have performed it, though I re wrote some passages slightly, near the end. On IMSLP there is a flute/piano version.... James Gillespie was involved in a clarinet/piano version, and there's a French publication of an arrangement by Guy Dangain. I have no idea how well the piece works for solo instrument and piano.... curious and definitely not dismissive.
