I know I speak for many others who are sad to hear of the passing of James Gillespie, longtime professor of clarinet at the University of North Texas. He was a fine gentleman and an influential teacher. His years of work as editor of the ICA Journal was something which meant a lot to all of us. He was very kind to me over the years and so helpful with material I submitted for the ICA Journal.
RIP, Jim.

He was a very patient man, encouraging student clarinetists, even me.

Indeed, Jim Gillespie was a patient and kind man. Back when I was an active member of the ICA he and I worked together on some clarinet information and was a person I enjoyed working with.
