A friend wants to sell me an old Leblanc A clarinet, serial# N 4xxx. (The "N" is on top of the number.) It has a double register mechanism, a ring on the third finger, left hand hole, and two pads on the low F/C key. There's nothing like it on the auction site. It's in pristine condition. ¿Any ideas on what a fair price would be?

Around 7-8 years ago, I tried a similar Leblanc A- it definitely had a double-register mechanism, cannot remember about other keys. It was in good (not pristine) condition, they owner was selling it for about $1000.
I did not buy it because of a couple of reasons (as far as I can remember):
1. I felt it did not have the sound/tone of a "professional" clarinet, compared to Buffet R13/RC
2. The double register mechanism was somewhat slow to respond - even though it probably could have been tweaked, I was afraid of any potential problems with it in the future.
Also, I recently tried an old Centered Tone with the 3rd ring and found it was difficult to come back to my "regular" clarinet, so it depends on how similar (or dissimilar) your B-flat is to this Leblanc and if you'd be able to switch comfortably between this Leblanc A and your Bb.
So, before considering the price, I would extensively play-test it first to see if it is a god fit.
