Thanks for the link David. The following remarks in no way relate, good or bad, to you sir for merely exposing us to this product.

The website says that the ligature is "all about Jazz."

Why?

None of the features Silverstein ascribes to it, even if spot on--and I have my well founded doubts--suggests qualities unique to the jazz player.

"Two patented harmonic enhancers, stronger projection, with just the right amount of focus to maintain a powerful sound,"

....would these not be phonic attributes desired by the classical soloist?

Something tells me the following conversation is not apt to happen. I'll set the stage: it's finals for a top 5 clarinet orchestra spot. The committee sits down with the top contender...

"Sir/ma'am, we just love everything about your play, but is that a Jazz ligature that you're playing on?!" (Insert organ horror chords here.)

I'm drawing a line. As long as one person goes hungry or homeless my disposable monies will first go to them rather than indulgent products like this of Steve Martin humor like "gasoline powered turtleneck sweaters" and "fur sinks."

I think what tipped me here is Silverstein ligatures were themselves all I could handle on gear improving play, but a bridge too far was the customization of their "reed straps" into specific musical genres.

I have visions of some Silverstein strategy session where someone in marketing asked or pointed out what musical genres their products weren't as well represented in than others, and jazz music came up.

If Kal (Opperman) was alive today he'd get so mad at students who spent a moment of practice time away from what he told them to do and on this that his wife Louise would come running in from the kitchen asking what's wrong.

I noticed that they spelled "SILVERSTEIN" wrong.

I am not crazy about the look of these ligatures and I would not spend that much on a ligature. Besides that, when I look at their many products, it is just overwhelming.
