"One critic, school safety consultant Kenneth Trump, suggested in October that these tools are “security theater,” with firms like ZeroEyes lobbying for taxpayer dollars by relying on what the ACLU called “misleading” marketing to convince schools that tools are proactive solutions to school shootings."
Indeed. I remember the push, years ago, to require drug screenings of any student involved in extracurricular activities: athletics, band, even the chess club. Work places were told that having random drug tests would allow them to get rid of their problem employees. These tests were expensive, and highly profitable to the companies providing them. First of all, anyone with a CDL is already subject to random drug tests. It turned out that the supposed benefits of random drug testing did not materialize.
