Where did you buy your new Pro Soprano Yamaha?

I'm curious who people use.

Kesller, NYC Woodwinds, Yamaha Atelier, etc.

What did you think of your purchase experience? Did you buy over the internet?

TIA

Mine was an interesting experience. I would NEVER purchase "sight unseen," so I discovered that ANY music store that carries Yamaha musical instruments can have a pro line clarinet brought in for trial. Now, it's not ideal to only have one horn to try, but upon trying that one horn (a CSG Hamilton plated horn back in 2005) I bought it on the spot.

Just an option

I selected my last set of CSVR clarinets at the Yamaha Los Angeles Atelier back in 2019. It was a fantastic to be able to choose from dozens and dozens of instruments, all setup by Jeff Peterson, and I had the assistance of my colleague Thomas Carroll to listen, play-test, and differentiate between them.

Honestly, I could have gone with almost any of them, as their quality control and fit-and-finish were superb. It's a huge relief after dealing with piles of poorly-setup R13s at some of the big music stores in our area. I ended up with an A and a Bb that are incredibly similar in tonal profile. A local authorized retailer handled the sale, and I was able to take them home right away.

More recently, they had a full overhaul by Lohff & Pfeiffer, and they're still my primary instruments to this day.

I wonder how receptive either the NY or LA location would be to semi-professionals like myself. I understand they service only professionals. Any thoughts here?
