Eurgene Bozza, a twentieth century French composer, probably composed more for the clarinet than anybody else. He is not very well known, probably because he was of the generation of the avant-garde but was no avant gardist. Check him out. His Contrasts for clarinet and bassoon are first-rate.

Probably best known over in the dark side in the saxophone camp:)
His "Aria" is standard repertoire for serious students of legit saxophone playing, and it's also stunningly beautiful:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IilvLMQP_WI
thanks for the heads up. will have to check out his clarinet music some time!

Used to play his wind octet all the time, great stuff. I’ve never really played much of his solo stuff. Did read through the clarinet concerto some years ago. Perhaps I should look again.

Peter: There's a really good piece for bassoon and clarinet. I played his lovely Aria last week at my godson's wedding (my godson's choice. I had never heard of Bozza).

Bozza’s Trio d’Anches is very fine. One of the top examples in that genre.
Good idea to draw attention to this underrated composer.
