So its been quite a long time since my last post. Struggled with the Astor piece just not enough time on my hands, so I shelved it for future but I did a video of a modern hip piece using The Bigmouth mouthpiece made by Windy Dankoff.You can see the video on youtube or Facebook just look up Woodwind Wizard.

Nice video, but you've had much better luck with that mpc than I have had. If you don't mind sharing, what reed did you use in that video?

I used a legere signature series #3 tenor sax reed..My squeaks are from the cheap neck strap no floor peg and mpc sticks out of socket 8th of an inch. I think if I sand it down it will sitin tighter.Oh and a Francois Louis ligature.After a month of not playing its unforgiving you really need to play it everyday too get to know it better.

Listening while playing and listening to the recording are like night and day to me .I think its too bright a sound .Next recording will be with a #4 jazz reed for a darker richer sound in a solo situation but for now this would work in concert band.

the bigmouth mpc arrived and its simply awesume. 3x the power of regular alto clarinet mpcs yet still maintains good tone. you can darken the tone with a slightly harder reed. jazz playing-its simply peerless. easy to tame by simply not blowing so hard. its going to community band next week to test it in a realistic setting. mouthpiece is very well made and comes with a quality ligature and mpc patch. given what premium mpcs cost these days-its worth its price. its also extremly reed friendly. and will use alto sax reeds as well as the recommended tenor sax reeds. this mpc is a winner for me.

I have a BigMouthpiece and am still working with it to see what I can get out of it. One thing I discovered along the way, however, is that using a tenor sax reed on the alto clarinet mouthpiece is a considerable improvement for me on my Leblanc alto on Vandoren BD5 (the best), B40 and B44 mpcs. Fuller sound, better projection, better articulation than I get with alto sax reeds on the same mouthpieces. And much easier to control than tenor reeds on my BigMouthpiece. My particular setup using Jared De Leon's aftermarket Leblanc neck enables me to use a full-length tenor sax reed, but one that's been cut down works just as well.
FYI, The reeds I am currently using are Fibracell 4 tenor sax reeds. I've tried Fiberreed Carbon Onyx tenor reeds but have not had as desirable results.

i tried legere american cut on mine yesterday and its a perfect match.2.0 was a litttle too soft so i ordered a 2.25.
