 Bridge key alignment repair question

I brought my Buffet Prestige R13 clarinet in
for adjustment and explained that my bridge alignment needed attention. I
mentioned that even if it was off slightly it caused problems. I tried getting used to the modification thinking it was me but Just wanted some other thoughts . I have attached a picture showing cork bevel on half .

That cork is far too thick! Whoever fitted that monstrosity of a key cork needs to retire with immediate effect.

You don't need a thick cork there, especially one that thick - just a thin (0.4mm to 0.7mm thick) piece of tech cork and then regulate the linkage with the joints in the position that's comfortable for you so long Bb works.

Someone I know recently was going on about the linkage cork being 'too thin' when the thickness of the cork has nothing to do with the regulation - it's down to the rotation of the joints and they have to be lined up correctly for long Bb to be in regulation.

Example of the required thickness linkage cork. Adjustments are made to the keys, not the corks.

Also the long Bb regulation is massively dependent on the rotation of the upper and lower joints and will only work best in one spot - you can't have it set up to work regardless of how the joints are lined up. To be certain, use the line on the LH2 linkage ear as a guide if that's most comfortable for you.

You can always have discreet index marks engraved on the lower joint socket ring and on the upper joint to be sure you have the correct alignment each and every time you assemble the joints.
