Kaspar Blank Discussion

Please review the auction listed below. Not interested particularly in pricing or condition. My mission is to IDENTIFY!

It is my understanding that later in his career the elder Frank, Sr. @ that time residing in Ann Arbor, srarted using BABBITT Blanks. As I review the accompaying auction photos, I see two (2) lower lines. I believe this to be a non-Chedville Blank, probably a Babbitt.

[[ Again, my purposes here is to learn & identify -- I'm not in the market for an Ann Arbor Kaspar ]].

I was told that the Cicero Kaspar used Babbits later in his career, and the Ann Arbor used something else, at times Austrian blanks, but not Babbit.

Interesting I KNEW I had read that the Senior (Ann Arbor) Kaspar used Babbitt blanks later in his career.

Roger Garrett saId:
"Some of the Ann Arbor Kaspars were made from Babbitt blanks in the later
years - specifically, the 13b blank. They were considered, by Kaspar, to be inferior blanks compared to the Chedevilles, but he "made them work" so as to not be able to tell a difference."

But, upon researching the matter in the Klarinet Archives I could be wrong, others may be wrong or maybe BOTH Younger & Older Kaspars starting using Babbitt aafter the stock of Chedeville & Lelandais ran out :

"The blank is the 13B. Jim Green, of JJ Babbitt, assures me that this blank has the same dimensions as the ones that they supplied to Frank Kaspar years ago."

But, WHICH Frank Kaspar was it? <grin> Any help would be appreciated.
