 Tanglewood Wind Ensemble or Workshop?
Author: clartl

my friend got into the wind ensemble at tanglewood, but he got waitlisted to both the clarinet workshop and quintet workshop. he was wondering whether the wind ensemble or workshops are more competitive, and which one would look better on his resume. Thanks!

If you look at the resumes for many musicians you can see from the level of detail most would just say they'd played at Tanglewood and not be so specific.

The Tanglewood wind ensemble is highly competitive, and being accepted into it is a significant achievement. The clarinet and quintet workshops are also competitive, but the wind ensemble is generally considered more prestigious.

In terms of resume impact, being part of the wind ensemble would likely stand out more due to its reputation and the level of competition involved.
