 John Gibson Radio Show

(in response to Bob Arney and Mark C.)

I've been dong radio and TV since 1974. Last 21 years here in Phoenix.

Spent 9 years as co-host on the morning show at KOOL 94.5....an oldies station.
As radio does....a change was made....and I was the change....so now am part of the Morning team at NewsTalk 550 KFYI. My job is to provide parody songs...
and provide Man on the Street reports dealing with current events pertinent to the Phoenix area, as well as the big stories of the day nationally. (Condit/Levy...
Stem Cell...Gas prices...etc.) All with a Jay Leno prove them stupid angle.
In addition to the morning duties, I host a Saturday afternoon talk show with a lady
who is my "Ed McMahon". We talk current events....issues with a twist. It's sort of like the Jefferson's...All in the Family....Fear Factor...Survivor...McNeil/Lehrer...
and Pee Wee Herman all rolled into one "stream of consciousness" with input from listeners over three hours. When the callers start sounding stupid or whacked out....I start playing the "laurel and hardy" theme on my clarinet. When they get boring I just start practicing scales and arpeggios....with an occassional
"begin the beguine" or old RollingStones or other rock and roll song. Listeners find it a refreshing change from the run of the mill talk fare. The John and Les Show is now the highest rated weekend show at the station.
KFYI is owned by Clear Channel Communications....the largest radio station group in the world...1200 stations in the U.S. and another 250 or so in foreign countries. There has been talk of syndicating John and Les, so if that happens I'll let you know.
Bob thanks for your interest.
Mark....excellent web site.

The "Henley (sp) Heavyside Layer" not withstanding, it would take a heck of a jump for me to get 550 KH here mid-afternoon. What's the power output??

John, the email was returned. Not "DX"ing, just old age middle of the night browsing. Des Moines on 510 blocks out everything. Thanks anyway.
