 RE: tuning my alto clarinet

I find that in order to bring the lower clarion (B thru F#) in tune with the rest of the instrument on my Leblanc pro alto clarinet, I have to pull a bit at the center joint. I have found that appropriately-sized rubber O-rings, one inside the tenon socket and one on the tenon itself, help to stabilize and fill that connection and produce the desired results as tuning rings would. But I am wondering about what effect the rubber has acoustically. Would a more solid material like brass, wood or plastic produce better results? These are thicker (3.45mm) than any tuning ring I have seen, so if replacing the O-rings I would probably have to have someone make tuning rings for me. Any suggestion as to who might do this work if I decided to go that route? Any info offered will be appreciated.

I’ve made tubing rings for my Bb and A in both delrin (plastic) and brass before, and I *feel* like I can tell a difference and prefer the brass.
I have no real evidence of anything, but from anecdotal experience I say it may be worth trying?
