Basically what the title reads. Anyone here have the Fatboy and can't fit in their clarinet case? What do you guys do?
I have one on trial that I quite like, and was considering purchasing it. I have a pair of R13s (Bb/A) in the original Buffet attache double clarinet case, and I don't use a case cover. It also doesn't fit in the slot where you put you can put your reeds and your small accessories (cork grease, swab). Doesn't fit in any of the mouthpiece spots either.

I like the Fatboy too (despite the annoying name) and use a small but ample case from Reed & Squeak: https://reedandsqueakcases.com/shop/single-clarinet-case-suitable-for-bb-a-c-eb-expnt?
Their cases are well-made and use stable inserts that can be positioned to accommodate different barrel sizes and clarinet lengths. Double cases are available.

Usually they fit in the horizontal slot. I have a case with the long vertical channel for barrels where one would not fit. In that event, I put the barrel in the accessory area. If that is not available in your situation then you'll have to carry in separate bag.

Buffet double cases (made by Jakob Winter) aren't exactly well designed for Buffet clarinets to begin with.

Most cases the foam in a barrel slot can be kind of forced to accommodate a larger barrel. It won’t really spring back through, permanently deformed usually.
Like Chris said, they aren’t really the nicest cases out there anyway though…

When I fell on top of mine it help up just fine. One cracked corner and no damage to the clarinets. Fixed that corner and still using the case.

Thanks all for the responses. When I made the original post, I swear I checked to see if the barrel fit in the horizontal compartment slot that's commonly used to put reeds and other accessories, and I recalled it not fitting. I tried just now and it does fit there, even with the supplied velvety barrel pouch, so I guess I'll just keep it there for now. A bit tight, but works.
I know the original R13 cases aren't the best, but I'm not looking to upgrade it in the moment. It does its job. Maybe I'll buy a better case in the future when I have the funds to do so (I'm a broke student  ).
It barely fits in the bell, and by barely, I mean it pushes pretty hard against the side of the case. And that's with nothing covering the wood to wood contact of the bell and barrel. Plus, I usually store a stand in the bell.
Now I am just trying to decide on which barrel length by playing a lot in front of a metronome...
Edit: I meant tuner, not metronome

I like Buffet cases, esp. the ones for Prestige/festival clarinets.

Metronome or tuner?
Also, in the winter, if playing in a cold/cool setting, you might need a barrel 1mm shorter than the one you need now, esp. if playing with stringed instruments.

I meant to say tuner haha. I guess it is because my tuner app is the same as my metronome app.
Good point about playing with strings in the colder setting.

I'd read both LOL.
Currently prepping for college and looking for some used R13's(finding plenty, but what is it with the high prices??). If the advice is to ditch the double case I can hopefully factor that into my budget.

I wish there were such a thing as a single case for the A clarinet. It that existed, I wouldn't have to lug the big double case when I just use the A clarinet. A triple: C, B flat and A case would also be welcome.

I have an A single case, but I think the previous owner was a smoker or something, because it really has a bad odour I don’t think I’ll be able to sufficiently get rid of… So it’s just been sitting on a shelf.
Buffet also made single A cases for their e11s which come for sale occasionally. Wiseman could make any combination case your heart desires, but you’d have to pay dearly for it…

I'm not a paid spokesman for Reed & Squeak cases, honest (despite posting about them earlier in this thread). But their single cases, with the nice movable dividers, work for A clarinets as well as Bb and Eb ones.

I have the Reed & Squeak triple. I don't find it works for a A + Bb + C. That's why I bought it, so a bit of a disappointment. Try before you buy.
