I have a Boosey and Hawkes clarinet. The serial number is 513634. I dont know where to look to find out the age. All that is written is B and H, London, Edgware and the serial number on the back.
Any assistance about where to look for this serial number would be very helpful.
Thank you
Sarah

I don't think this info is available on the internet anywhere. The Boosey & Hawkes site only lists the serial numbers for the Buffet line of clarinets. The serial number list at Lars Kimmer's Music Trader only lists numbers for the pro line of Boosey & Hawkes (i.e. before they bought Buffet and dropped the B&H line of clarinets). The Edgeware was a student or intermediate level instrument.

The Edgwares were (to the best of my knowledge) pre-Buffet, and the serial number dates it from 1948, per Lars Kimser's list. This is reasonable. It should be a wood instrument without metal tenon rings (such as the later Edgwares had), is this so?
