clarimad,

Yay! The two photos came through. Looks nice. Do you have any photos of the keywork?

Thanks,
Fuzzy

Fuzzy says that you will join the Metal Clarinet Appreciation Group on facebook. Please post a lot of pix and try have the instrument focused dead on. Also, what is the length fully assembled either with or without a mouthpiece?

From what I can see there is a knurled portion of the barrel, which in theory should adjust the length of the barrel. It breaks in the middle. It has short chimneys (which you may love when you get it playing -- fits nicely in the hands. The keywork looks characteristic of the Conn 524N which was their primary pro metal clarinet in the late 1920s and early 1930s. I think the serial number dates it to 1929. https://www.musictrader.com/_files/ugd/4a7a71_3f1377f3f04c46ff905605e8fbe88206.pdf

These are very desirable instruments. I have not tracked ebay prices since 2016 but my impression is that these go for 300 to 400 or so, depending. Sometimes slip through for under 200.

Honestly, one of my favorite models.

But throw a bunch of pix -- the more the better. I'm 98% certain on what I wrote above. We in that group love our clarinet porn. And if it plays, please include a clip. (If you search the facebook page you'll find a few demonstrations of this model.).

And thanks Fuzzy for bringing this to my attention.

cheers
jim
