I uncovered a mpce out of aan old Buffet clar circa 1930
It looks exactly like a Chedeville... has the Al in a little box and the name
A. Landais across...chain type border around the bottom of th piece.
Can anyone tell anything about this mpce...thanks AL

if you look carefully, or try and make out for lost characters ... the last name is "Lelandais".

Glotin of France now owns both the Chedeville and Lelandais names. The Lelandais Blank can be quite nice. I had one that I sold a while back that had a lovely sound. It's now being played, after being refaced, by a Principal in a midwest Symphony.

Thanks for the info.....I agree with the sound etc, of this mpce.
I play a chedeville..when i tried this Lelandais , i think it;s better,bigger sound.

From what I've been told, Lelandais mouthpieces from the 30s were Chedeville stencils. The chainlike border appears on many Chedevilles. I'm told that many of Chedeville's best blanks had the words QUALITE SUPERIEURE in tiny letters running up the right side next to the table, but I don't think the chain border blanks had that.
Looks like you got something good.

Agreed, the Lelandais mouthpieces are highly sought-after by players. Some people regard them in the Kaspar category due to the qualities mentioned in the above comments. If you ever decide you don't want it and want the money it would bring, there are several people on Sneezy to buy and sell mouthpieces like that--or you could sell it yourself.
But, if you want to keep a great mouthpiece to enhance your own playing--keep it and play it!

This is one of those (very rare) clarinet-related items that might very well do better on eBay than on "Sneezy." If I had one of these, though, I would hate to sell it.

I have played a few Lelandais Eb and Bb mouthpiece and have liked them. I currently have a Lelandais crystal mouthpiece in my arsenal along with my main Kaspar, a Wells, and a wood Buffet mouthpiece from the 20's.
I'm working on trying to find reeds to work on a Langenus mouthpiece from the 40's. If anyone has any recommendations on reeds that work well with the old Langenus mouthpieces, let me know.
