I had wrist surgery this week for DeQuarvains which was the result of a car accident last year. While the surgeon tells me the prognosis is excellent, is there anyone who has had experience with the recovery time and workinf back into playing after a similar injury? E-mail me directly or post here. Thanks!!!

Check Sherman Friedland's Corner here on Sneezy. Sherman suffered with DeQuarvains.

Hi Tabbi,

This is a different injury but I hope the info helps some. I recenty had surgery on my upper arm (fell of my horse and broke it_ouch) and couldn't work my fingers for 7 weeks but I could play my mouthpiece. After the 7th week my husband could put my clarinet together for me so I could start playing with the instrument resting on my knees so no weight was on my hand. Of course, I had to trust my husband to take it apart and swab it - that was scary in itself! I think I'll be able to do that part myself in a couple more weeks - about 10 weeks total.

Hope you heal fast and don't let those boring days get you down. I know what an emotional rollercoaster recovery can be.

Take care,
Lynn
