 A uniquely-designed clarinet case

This oddly-shaped case as well wasn’t meant to have a handle. Please tell me why

A picture would help but is sounds like a case for a one piece clarinet that you could tuck under your arm. There's a Buffet unibody on that auction site right now (sold) or it might have been made for a metal clarinet.

It could be a pochette case without the carrying bag/cover it was supplied with.

Yamaha make single and double cases without handles that are designed to fit inside case covers with handles, pockets and shoulder straps on them.
