 eb extension bore?
Author: Hunter_100

This is a question about eb clarinet extensions, such as those made by Fobes, Pereira 3D, JDWoodwinds, Behn, etc. for eb sopranino clarinets (not altos).

Is the bore of the extension tapered or profiled somehow? Are they just straight cylinders?

The normal bore profile that starts in the lower joint and extends into the bell would be interrupted when you put the extension on right? Do these extensions purposefully create an enlargement or contraction of the bore compared to the bell entrance?

Thanks

Hunter,

Great questions and I think you will get some excellent answers from Ryan Pereira directly by email. He is a real scholar on these items with his family background full of engineers and other inquiring minds.

I think you and he are both able to "hear a different drummer" and really dig down on these kind of things.

See you next month,

Hank
