Hi to all, just wondering something that I heard of a way back when I was a student at a Marcellus master class and took a few private lessons from Brody as well as Marcellus,,,I remember hearing from a few of the students there , that Clark Brody was actully "demoted" at a rehersal by Solti...as I recall , he was asked to switch places with Combs and right after that happened, Brody, quite understandably quit....now is this just untrue gossip or a fact? hope someone can clear this up once and for all...cheers...p.s. I never had the nerve to ask either Marcellus or Brody

I cannot speak to the veracity of that per se, but with the highly ordered rules of the music union here in the US I'd say that is HIGHLY unlikely. Rehearsals can't even extend beyond time limits without a union steward jumping up and calling time.

If there was any ill will between Marcellus and Combs, it would most likely have stemmed from Combs' tenure at Northwestern. The two camps of their students openly bickered with one another......if you believed all the graffiti in "The Bee Hive."

very interesting....i just figured marcellus was not a fan of combs playing and they also had rival mouthpieces at that time made by the same company thinking it was leblanc
