Fischer Clarinet Pads

I found a Carl Fischer (Stencil) Clarinet at an antique store.

In Addition to the stencil, Carl Fischer; New York; it says "Paris" "Artist" and the only number I can find is 036.

Right now it plays beautifully.

Its pads have seen better days and I will want to replace them, but I have heard this clarinet needs custom pads.

Is this correct? If so where can I get pads?

Any other information would be appreciated.

What you will need to do is buy a set of digital calipers so you can measure each pad individually. You can then order them from Music Medic or Ferrees.

Be aware that repadding a clarinet is a big undertaking though and that buying the proper tools and supplies often costs more than taking it to a repair tech, especially when you encounter cracks, broken solder joints and other common defects on vintage clarinets. It is also a skill and you should not expect your first repair job to be very good, keep that in mind if you like how this instrument plays.
