Hello all,
I know that the Evette clarinets are a very weird subject so I imagine there will be a lot of questions. Currently, I play on a regular Evette clarinet, serial 25267. It is made in France, and is a fine instrument, although it has bad intonation on the low notes from under the low A and the high notes above F. I am currently looking at this Evette & Schaeffer clarinet. Would this be a substantial enough upgrade to make it worth it? Thanks!

I am not an expert. My understanding is that E&S were better instruments than "regular" Evette.
However, it probably would not be a major upgrade.
There are many things to consider: does your Evette need any work?
Does the E&S need any work? Is the E&S playable right now?
Can you compare it to yours?
On most instruments, even expensive Buffets like Prestige and Festival, low notes from A down would be somewhat flat, esp. the low F and E.
If they are in tune, most likely corresponding B, C, D and E will be slightly sharp.
If those low notes on your Evette are slightly flat, like -2-3C, that probably would be considered good, esp. for a student level clarinet.
To get a marked improvement from Evette, you'd need to get a Buffet advanced student/pro-level clarinet (E12, E13), or R13.
Selmer 9 or 10 would be a nice step up too.
