Although i am not playing it, i recently heard the 4 spohr concertos, and i gotta say, they’re probably some of the best I’ve come across. Now I know these works are absurdly hard, from the big octave 16th note jumps in 3, to the unclarinetlike arpeggios in 2 and 1, the stratospheric high notes, and spohrs desire to suffocate clarinetists to death, but they are so fun to listen to, and the effort would be well worth it, especially one of the easier ones like the 3rd movement of spohr 1 and the 3rd movement of spohr 3. (Dont get me wrong they look hard, just not as absurd as the 1st of 1,2, and 3). Its really surprising they arent played more, and I’m thinking of tackling one of them later, which one/movement would you guys recommend?

I agree these are great works. My thoughts are that 1, 3 and 4 each have a movement that is weaker musically than the other movements. The 2nd concerto, in my opinion, is the one where all three movements are of top quality. Feel free to disagree with me.
I LOVE the 3rd mvt of the 3rd concerto, not as "immediately attractive" as the 3rd mvt of the 1st concerto, but it grows on you, and if you perform it you will find it unexpectedly harder than you at first thought...
The slow mvt of 3, btw, references the Mozart concerto.
Concerto 1 is probably the easiest one to get an orchestra to play, a bit less "epic" than 2 or 3.
Just my 10 cents.

Thanks for your thoughts! Although I will admit i am not a huge fan of 3rd movement of 2nd concerto. My personal favorite is 3 and especially the 1st movement
