key work and how it sits

This has been bugging me for awhile. Did key work sit less proudly on instruments of the 1970s? I had a Vito Reso Tone (which I loved) as a kid and it was from around 1973/74. I can't play it because the upper joint broke, and I don't have it with me, so I can't quite compare it to my student Yamaha (which might be from the '90s), but I seem to recall that the key work was less proud on the Vito (going by what I remember of the feel of the instrument).

I have an old clarinet from the 1920s, maybe 30s, and the key work does not seem to sit as proudly as on the Yamaha. (I haven't measured it or anything, just going by the feel.)

I think it makes a difference for small hands (like mine).

Just wondering if this is real or in my head.

If you measure your proudest keys, I can do the same on my 70s Vito.

It may have been a general tendency, but we did have a recent mention on the Board explaining that Buffet clarinets raised their posts (elevating the key key height slightly and changing the feel slightly) at a point in the 60's.

Manufacturers have definitely made some of the keys for the left pinky more proud!!!

Oh wait, that's the additional Ab/Eb lever. ;)
