Just returned from the Washington, DC area, where I had the pleasure of "sitting in" with a fine community band from Fairfax, Virginia. Check their website at < http://www.fairfaxband.org/>

Good!!!!! As an additional comment, I highly recommend the practice (better, pleasure) of taking your instruments with you on vacation and arranging to "sit in" with a local band or (if posible) orchestra. A great way to get a better feeling for the area you are visiting by meeting real people ("locals") and avoid the "vacation chops syndrome" by doing a little extra playing. I got off the plane late last evening, played a two-hour gig this AM and it felt as if I had never been away. And, while my "non-musical" wife prefers the sight-seeing and shopping, for me, sitting in with a local group if often the high-light of my vacation. I know it was this time, thanks to the wonderful hospitality and musicianship of the City of Fairfax Band, Fairfax, Va. (Fairfax is a suburb of Washington, DC--about 15 miles south-west) Good to be back home, however--Good Clarineting!!!!!!!
