Not really a clarinet question but how many here still play concerts that are paid through the AF of M's Music Performance Trust Fund? That money for us disappeared in the early 2000s. I believe it still exists but in a different form. In one summer band I played in (still do, it's the only one) we got 12 or more concerts through the Fund.

Oddly enough, I also thought the fund had changed its name while cutting back on its activity. But a quick search at the AFM website comes up with a current description of its funding sources, administrative staff and activities in support of admission-free public concerts and school programs. I think the "green sheets" you used to have to sign when you played a Trust Fund job are gone, so you might not realize you're being paid by MPTF - their payroll system has been modernized. But MPTF itself seems to be alive and functioning, if not robustly healthy.

kdk-- I know it changed to Music Perf. Fund (dropped the "Trust") a few years back but changed back to MPTF. I know our conductor has asked for funds and was told there were none, so in this band we get paid by the village Parks and donations. I wrote MPTF a few years back and they said no one from our Local had recently asked for funds for concerts. But our conductor did. Our Local became part of NYC 802 more recently -- but that was long after we stopped getting $. So since the green sheets disappeared 15-20 years ago, how do you get paid from the Fund, and how do you know it comes from the Fund? I know in about 2010 or so I wrote to MPTF and was told it had to do with being an "educational" concert (ie. in a school) to get funds. Also that if you did this & that, some $ would go from someone or somewhere into the Fund then get paid to the players. Anyway, it's been a mess for me to figure out.
