Does anyone else have experience with a Pomarico German mouthpiece?
I recently bought a Kristall ** via the auction site.
The surprising feature of this mouthpiece for me is that it drops the pitch of the clarinet by about 2 Hz. This make it possible to comfortably play my Yamaha German Boehm clarinets at A440 with the right barrel, even at current UK summer temperatures. I may now make my 30 year old Yamaha's my main work horses!
My thoughts are that the Pomarico is an adapted French blank. The chamber is very small by German standards and parallel walled rather than the typical German A-framed style. The body is of large (French) dimensions and takes a French Bb ligature. it also has grooves for a string ligature The lay and the tenon are to German dimensions.
The model does not seem to be in the catalogue on the Pomarico website http://www.pomaricompieces.com/crystal-mouthpieces.html but is pictured 2nd from the left on that link, so hopefully not discontinued.
If the Thomann site is correct, the 2 star (**) should be a lay of 0.90*25mm, but I think mine is closer to 0.80mm.
I have several German mouthpieces that blow better for me, but not in tune on my clarinets.
The Kristall ** works well enough for me with Vandoren Black Master 3 or 3.5. (I don't have any White Master in my reed drawer ATM).
