I have some difficulties finding what year a bass clarinet is made!
The model is LeBlanc and the serial number is 3502!

Can anyone help? :)

Make sure the image is below 2Mb. You can reduce the file size if you have a Windows computer by opening it in Paint 3D and reducing the size. On a phone just take a picture from further away and crop it.

According to

http://www.woodwindforum.com/clarinetperfection/snleblanc/#EmblemLeblanc

the logo on your instrument was in use up to the 1950s, so no later than that. The same site lists bass serial number 8000-ish in 1964 and 10000-ish in 1970, so 3502 would be around 1952 at a constant rate of production.

Looks to be the simplest key configuration, with a single register key mechanism and no fork Eb5. No engraving on the bell (at least not visible).

These German silver keys age so well.

First of all, thank you for your fast response!

How does this clarinet compares to other LeBlanc that are from the 60s or 70s?
Is it worth the money talking into consideration that it is from the early 50s? :)

Kind regards,
Alex K.

Hello,

I would imagine that "is it worth the money" depends on how you plan to use the instrument, the condition it is in, and what is your experience with bass clarinet playing.

Hello again!

I totally understand your point "Hank Lehrer".
I am a jazz saxophonist and my b-instrument is the clarinet.
This would be my first bass clarinet and it is mostly going to be used in improvised music.
It is impossible to buy a good low C clarinet and this is why i am looking in such solutions.
I expect this instrument to be good for many years to come and this is why i am asking how this bass clarinet compares to some other LeBlanc from the 60s or 70s. In other words i am not willing (mostly because of my economy) to upgrade somewhere near the future and i am willing to pay something more now so that i have something that is "futureproof".

The condition of the instrument is good (from what the seller says to me, it plays the chromatic scale up and down with no problems) and it costs around 1700 euro.

Once again...Is it worth it?

Thank you so much for your time and i wish you all a pleasant day!

Yours faithfully,
Alex K.
