Can you play a glissando just as easy with a more closed mouthpiece then an open one or is it easier to do it with an open mouthpiece?

Do you mean a smear or a gliss? If you mean a smear (a la Rhapsody in Blue), you will find that it's all in the throat, so the mouthpiece doesn't matter that much.
