Hi all,
I recently puchased what I beleive to be a second hand Buffet E11. The printing has worn off and I have looked everywhere to identify it by the serial number 750992 and can find no reference to these numbers. I have read that these instruments had at least two changes in location of manufacture. The Buffet site no longer seems to give this information. Any information would be appreciated. Cheers David

Is it stamped "Made in Germany" next to the serial number?

No stamp at all. The seller told me the Buffet & E11 print rubed off.

Later E11's had a decal, not a stamping. They wore off after a couple of years. Some were made in France by Buffet and some in Germany by Schreiber. If it has no "Made in Germany" stamp it my be one of the French ones.

Thanks Tony, seems strange that Buffet have taken the serial number checker offline but I suspect it would be for commercial reasons.

The "Made in Germany" (or previously "Made in W. Germany") is usually stamped/engraved into the wood and rarely wears off... but it's possible. It's usually next to the serial number, so if the serial number is there, that would usually still be there too.
The E11 logo itself often wears off.
If you can post a photo it would probably be possible to tell which one it is. The French E11 model is easy to recognize by its unique and terrible post attachment design. This is likely why they pretty quickly discontinued it, removing any trace they could of it ever existing...
