 Reed Revelation!

Today I took my E-13 back to the store for a check up as I have now had this baby for six months,I needed some more reeds and having used standard Vandy's and V-12's for the last six months I fancied a change as recently I have had serious problems with my reeds,I've tried reed strengths either side of my normal choice and most have been either stuffy or too harsh,so I picked at random from a couple of boxes in the shop of Mitchell Lurie Premium 2.5's and 3's. When I got home I tried a few of the 3's WHAT A REVELATION! Instant response great articulation even my forays above top 'C' were less traumatic,I feel as though all is suddenly clear again YIPPEE!!!!!.

Funny how a great reed can make life so much brighter. <|:o)
I play Mitchell Lurie 3.5 with a 5RV mpc and Bonade lig. ML's are great.

I like ML's too. Maybe it's just my set up, but they tend to be really bright reeds, so just be careful.

I have tried one satisfactory style: A generic mouthpeice (no brand name but made specially for precision) with LaVoz 2's. I've never heard of anybody else on this site that uses LaVoz reeds, but they are very common down south here in Nashville. I don't know if they're just the cheap brand that nobody likes, but they give me a wonderful sound. (Maybe I'm just the rare exception to the "cheap=bad" theory, like the occasional oboist who plays beautifully on a store-bought reed.)

LaVoz's tend to be pretty soft, but they do have a nice reedy sound. I used to LOVE'em on sax. Nothing wrong with them. I know some fine clarinetists that use them today...

To each his/her own. I really dislike the MLs. Much prefer the Vandoren V12s. Tried Zondas for a while and liked them--but they don't last very well.
