 daniel's reeds?
Author: Francesca

Hey all! Has anybody tried this brand of reeds? The blurb brags of Italian craftmanship combined with French cane aged for 4 years. Sounds good to me, but I always like to hear input from others. Thanks!

I have tried a couple of boxes of the No. 4's (using a VanDoren M13 mouthpiece) and I think they are very good. They hold up well and although I found the bass a bit muffled, the higher notes hold very well and the tone is crisp. I gave a box of 4 1/2's to my instructor and they work well for him. I got my Daniles from Discount Reed. They're definitely worth trying.

I haven't tried the clarinet reeds, but I am a huge fan of Daniel's sax reeds. They made previously quirky (metal) mouthpieces behave.

Francesca -

Daniel's Reeds are very much worth trying. They're made of excellent cane and are quite durable. I play on them a lot.

As with any commercial reed, you need to break them in, flatten the bottom and balance them carefully. They repay all the work.

Best regards.
