 Mouthpiece Exercises

Is there a thread on exercises to do just with the mouthpiece somewhere? I could not find one...does anyone have any exercises to do that are semi-exciting and not boring? Thanks

This is an excerpt from a post by Ken Shaw from 10/01/98, that I saved and printed for future reference. Maybe Ken will jump in if he has any additions.

"As to strengthening the embouchure, I put an old mouthpiece with a split reed in the glove compartment of my car and held it in my mouth as I was driving. Fairly soon, I got to where I could do that with a barrel attached. I got some pretty odd stares, but built up embouchure strength quite a bit over several months. You could also do it at home while watching TV."

My daughter's teacher told her to practice holding a pencil in her mouth (with clarinet embouchure) to strengthen it. (This also provokes stares when done in public.)

The convenient thing for me is that I don't have to be at home with my horn in order to do these, so they can be done several times daily.

Mark told me how to get back to the beginning of the "new" BB but those postings only go back to 1/99. I don't know if he still has the older ones archived and accessible.

Good exercising!

Mouthpeice in your skull sounds painful, but you have a spare car horn. ;)
