 Studio HEPA filters?

Has anyone installed a HEPA filter in their teaching studio? I started offering in-person lessons to vaccinated students during the summer, but now the Delta variant and the return of all students to in-person schooling has me worried. I teach in a 11' x 7' studio, so not a huge space. If you have a filter that you are happy with I'd be curious to know which one you selected. Thanks!

I'd appreciate it if this could avoid becoming another thread of rage re: COVID science and politics. Yes, we are all fed up. Cheers.

Anders

Hi Anders,

I know a dentist practice near us installed air filters very early on in the covid period and they kept working successfully right through, long before the vaccine came in, so that's an indication that maybe their filters are working.

I don't know which ones they use, but this is their address if you wanted to write to them:

(sorry about the debating on the other threads. I find it all very interesting, but I can see how the constant back and forth could get a bit boring if you're not into it.)

I have a Whirlpool AP45030K (Current model is WP500) in my 11x14 bedroom (twice the size of your studio). Smaller air purifiers are not going to provide much air flow. Even on low, there is a significant amount of noise. You may notice a draft in a room as small as your studio, which may or may not be a concern. The air exits the unit from the top. I used to have a calendar on the wall above the unit, but gave up because it kept being blown off the wall.

The Whirlpool unit does not use an UVC light. The air purifiers I found in a quick web search that do have UVC lights were quite small, and likely to provide little air flow.
