 Leblanc mystery (at least to me)

Can anyone tell me what the added pad is for on the lower right joint?

That’s a G/D resonance key. It is coupled to the F/C key to improve the response of the G/D. Whether it makes a difference or not is debatable, but you do see them on most higher end bass clarinets.

This clarinet also has a forked Eb/Bb and an SK register mechanism.
