A soprano I've performed with contacted me to ask me to check the condition of a clarinet that she used to play but had put away 20 years ago when she began to study voice seriously. Her mouthpiece was a Gigliotti that I am fairly sure had the number 3 down next to the bottom of the table. It was, she thinks, probably from the 1980s.
(1) Did Gigliottis come with facings higher than #2? I had never until today seen one.
(2) Does anyone know what the nominal facing measurements were? I was surprised to find that this one seemed to have the same tip opening as my P facings. It was a 17 mm curve. It was the standard P34 facing.
Was there a #3 or could this have been a case of everything having worn away from the facing ID of a P34 except the 3?
