I have the opportunity to purchase a used "Clarinet made by Buescher and mouthpiece by Selmer." for $25.00. The owner states it needs three new pads and one spring. I am looking at this instrument for teaching a beginner student. Any information would be appreciated.

Plan on it needing considerably more than that. That may be what is obvious on a non-playing horn, but chances are that once put in use many other pads will fail. Replacing them one at a time is expensive and time consuming - so chances are you will need a repad. And then, you've got a repadded Buescher - no great honor.
I don't think I'd do it unless you KNOW the rest of the horn is good and you can't sink more than $75 into a horn. Even at that, I think you could find a Vito, Bundy, or Yamaha that would make a better horn.

A Buescher IS a Bundy (if it dates from the mid-60's or later, after Buescher was absorbed by Selmer USA). Bueschers were nearly as common as Bundys during the '70's in the schools.
