Has anyone tried the new(er) Legere tenor sax American cut on bass clarinet? Thoughts?

I've yet to try them on saxes as I've heard good reviews about them. Maybe I'll bite the bullet and get one for both tenor sax and bass clarinet as my Signature European bass one is getting a bit tatty now. I use 2 on tenor and 3.5 on bass.

I've been using tenor sax studio cut on my bass. Didn't like the signature bass clarinet reed at all. I tried the new European cut for bass and liked it okay, but still don't like it as much as the studio cut. Maybe it's just what I'm used to.

Phil,

I've been using the Tenor Studio Cut with great success and ordered a couple more this week. Last month, I got a European Cut for bass and it's OK.

Please share how the American Cut Tenor works out. BTW. my mouthpiece is a Selmer C* that was refaced by David McClune to a Matson S2 (I actually have three and love them all).

Best,

HRL

Never cared for the Signature, and have always used Studio Cuts or Classics. A 3¼ American Cut works very well, especially on my Grabner HiTech mouthpiece. It carries the best characteristics of the Studio Cut in terms of response and playability.

I don't like it quite as much on my Fobes CF — it sounds huskier than I'd like, but I've ordered a 3¾ American Cut for that mouthpiece, and I think a bit of added resistance will help clean and focus the sound. I really like the European Cut (also 3¼) on the Fobes as it's slightly wider, fits the table better, and sounds "bass-ier".

One other thing to consider– Legere periodically discontinues older versions of their products and Studio Cuts are, reportedly, their least popular line. I think the American Cut will eventually replace them.

Am using a 2.75 American cut tenor sax on a Grabner White Velvet and it is fantastic. Very free blowing and responsive. Ligature is a Rovner Dark 3R...

As I mentioned in my previous post, I like the 3¼ American Cut on my Grabner White Velvet but it seemed to be lacking something on my Fobes CF. I ordered a 3¾ and can report that it does the trick. Doesn't feel stiff at all and I can get the tone I'm looking for.
