i am adding bonade style rails to several of my old high quality french ligatures-mostly martins. i learned to silver solder today and finished the first one today. its a martin that was slightly over sized so perfect canidate. i used brass this time and the results are execellent. huge sound and more ring to the sound and more power . will be doing more soon. making the rails is the biggest part of the job and requires a lot of hand fitting and trial and error. i used brass mending plates and cut and ground them down to size . finish work is done with a hand file
