Hi. I was just listening to the old Mclane recording of the Mozart trio and couldn't help but compare his tone with Wright's in the same piece...Mclane seems to be using that same vibrato in this the Wright is famous for..very nice tone indeed!! I think his tone seems to be a bit "sweeter" than Wright's tone, but that's not to say I like it better...I still thing Wright is the best clarinetist I've ever heard in most pieces but Mclane is truly remarkable. Was wondering any of Wright's students out there can chime in and let us know if Wright recommended using that vibrato in playing...I"m sure he recommended double lip, but the vibrato? Cheers.
