I'm trying to check the date and provenance of a Buffet R13 clarinet we're considering buying for our daughter, but I can't find such information on the 'net. There's lots of information about older and vintage instruments, but not newer ones.
It's an R13 model BC1131-2-0 serial no. 6913nn (keeping the last 2 digits private).
Can anyone help, at least with the date? Plus any advice about what to look out for in buying this instrument would also be very welcome.
Thank You.

There’s not really a way to date newer instruments unfortunately. And Buffet rarely answers emails so it’s very unlikely to find it out from them. Based on the serial number it is probably quite recent, likely within the last 10 years. I wouldn’t worry too much about the age given this.
I would make sure it’s been repadded or at least serviced recently. The pads Buffet uses on their new instruments are not the best, many players will have them changed with cork, leather or synthetic pads.

Russell,
I'd estimate it to be from about spiring 2017. As jdbassplayer indicated, age shouldn't be a concern.
