Hi all. Just discovered this mouthpiece and it looks really good. Not sure as to how it plays as I don’t have it yet. What are your thoughts on this mouthpiece ?
Would this be an older one before his wife joined him ?

He was a wonderful mouthpiece maker, but he designed custom work as well as a wide range of standard facings for all stripes of player.

As always it depends on the facing, and what facings work FOR YOU.

I had one and found it easy to play.

I knew him personally....his mouthpieces play very dark, but sometimes tend to be a little flat in the throat tones. He spent a whole day with me back in the 70's adjusting an old chedeville I had found in a pawn shop...wish it didnt get stolen!

He made some very nice mouthpieces. I had a Hite mouthpiece which was slightly older than this one. It had a great resonance and projection with good focus. It was very comfortable to play with good response and pitch.

I play a Hite E and for me it is miles better than any of the dozen others I've tried in the shop. I know it's specific to the individual player though, so you may have to try it to find out if it suits you.

His Eb mouthpiece is excellent.

"His Eb mouthpiece is excellent."

I guess this perfectly illustrates the old adage "Different strokes for different folks" as the Hite Eb mouthpiece he (David Hite) sent me decades ago was the single worst mouthpiece I had ever the displeasure to play.

Hopefully, the soul who took it off my hands has had better luck with it than I!

Perhaps it is about different needs or tastes or the quality of individual mouthpieces. Years ago I had a Hite Eb that was very good.

Good to have mixed opinions about these mouthpieces. Every player has different needs so I guess its a matter of trying
