I've been searching for a new mouthpiece for my "new" Buffet R-13 about a year and a half. Needless to say of the many, many mouthpieces I've tried none of them really impressed me: they all had certain strengths but certain weakness. I have recently ordered and received three different Gregory Smith mouthpieces. And now I THREE excellent, intune and wonderfully resonant mouthpieces to choose from. Even the throat tones sound like velvet. I would suggest anyone seriously looking for a high quality mouthpiece to give them a try.

I too have recently bought a Gragory Smith mouthpiece. Which model is best for one is not necessarily the best for another (I know, advice as old as the hills). I really liked the 1, the the 1+ was good also, but the 1* did not work very well on my setup, I play Yamaha's. I love my new mouthpiece and I second the thumbs up!

I got one of his old Kasper models and I love it. The only thing is, is that I march with a B45 and to me is completely diiferent playing, so everytime I startthe fall marching season, I have to learn how to adjust quickly to the different mouthpieces. Anyways, I recommend his mouthpieces to anyone who's considering a handmade mouthpiece, because its well worth the investment!!

I have heard many good comments on these mouthpieces.
Does anybody have the experience of using them on Buffet RC (both Bb and A)?
I know there are several models available - Chedeville (1, 1*, 1+) and Kaspar. But can someone tell me the difference? Further, if I am looking for something feel similar to that of Vandoren M15, which model is recommended?

Why don't you contact Greg? He has a sponsor link here on Sneezy. That is what I did. He was very gracious and phoned me. We had a nice conversation where he asked me questions to determine which mouthpieces he would send to have me try. He is very approachable.

Not only is Gregory a superb maker of mouthpieces, but a truely nice guy who will talk with you about your setup, playing needs, reed choices, etc., etc., to provide you with the correct selection of mouthpieces to try. I have interactions (through my product development for mouthpiece cleaner and new cork preservatives) with many of the premier mouthpiece makers (to name a few - Hawkins, Hill, Pyne, Fobes, Vandamme) and they are all very approachable, very pleasant, and sincerely interested in providing you with a quality mouthpiece that suits your particular situation. Since we are all different players, there is a mouthpiece out there somewhere that will make you happy. I get chills of joy when (on those rare times when everything is just right and the tone of my horn is coming out warm and rich with my complete setup) when everything - including the mouthpiece is working in harmony.

Greg plays on Buffets and his mps are probably designed for them, but his Ched and Kaspar copies work very well on my LeBlanc Concertos (which he calls "R-13 like" clarinets). I agree, THUMBS UP, "Perfect Ten" rating, Grammy/Emmy nomination, the "Breakfast of Champions"--whatever in descibing Gregs products. And he will let you try before you buy--very accessable and a pleasure to deal with for a player of his stature in our clarinet community. The voice of experiance--William

Love the Greg Smith Kaspars and wood models. Absolutely fantastic mouthpieces and maker. Greg is a real gentleman. You can't go wrong.
