There's no fingering chart in my Leduc edition. What keys are meant in the last etude on the last page by "1" and "2" in his suggested fingerings for E6 and G6? Are they the A and G# keys (but the G# would be redundant)? He shows those two keys above a half-holed LH 1st finger for E6, which I find awkward to impossible if he's suggesting opening the A key. I assume key 4 (at the bottom of the RH) is the Ab/Eb key.

Such a good question! I've never found the numbered chart for the fingerings he prescribes.
And, while we're on Jeanjean, what exactly does décomposer mean?

I think that it is "12" (not 1 and 2) and is referring to the register key?
I understand "décomposer" to mean sub-divide (the rhythm)

Sometime over the years (perhaps on this site) there was a posting regarding terms and fingerings in the Jean Jean:
gauche = left; M.G. = L.H.
droite = right; M.D. = R.H.
sans = without
lâcher = release
clé = key
soulever = raise
pouce = thumb
et = and
ni = not
1 = LH E/B
2 = LH F#/C#
3 = RH F/C
4 = RH G#/D#
5 = RH sliver Bnat/F#
6 = LH C#/G#
7 = RH 1st (lowest) side key
7 bis = LH sliver D#/A#
8 = RH 2nd side key
9 = LH throat G#
10 = LH throat A
10 bis = RH 3rd side key
11 = RH 4th side key
12 = LH thumb register key
A = RH E/B
diamond shape = LH thumb tonehole
I cannot verify any info here, but hopefully it is helpful

Yes, that's how I understand "décomposer" too.
I guess "12" makes more sense than what I had thought he meant. It would be useful to have gotten a numbered key diagram with the book but it's obvious now that you mention it that you'd need the register key for those notes. There are other places, too, now that I look for them, where opening the register vent is so obvious that I never looked at the fingerings he gives and didn't notice that he specifies "12" in a number of them - several break crossings in the first etude use the same key.

Yes, I liked the older large format, although I wish they used a heavier paper. I finally replaced my old version because it was pretty much disintegrating.
