Dear all,
I am momentarily working on a thesis project for Nyenrode University (The Netherlands). The research deals with marketing a (newly designed) Thumb Rest for Clarinet and Oebo which is designed by Ton Kooiman and taking into production by a company called Rokatec.
For this project I need to do some market research and eventually write an international marketing plan on how to market the Thumb Rest world wide.
The problem is to get world wide market figures about Clarinet sales or Clarinet players/users. How ‘ big’ is this market and where is it primarily located (US, Europa - Germany / GB, Japan???) in percetages market share?
It turns out to be a real big problem and some suggestions on how to retrieve these figures would come in hand; Is there any one who can help me out? Please reply me on the given email address. Thanks so much in advance, gr. Andra

Hi Andra,
If you have not done it already you should try to contact the big companies and ask what is their market like. I'm thinking Vandoren, Selmer, Boosey & Hawkes, Leblanc, Yamaha. They represent most of the market in clarinet, mouthpieces and accessories.
As far as whom to contact, I don't really know but I am sure they must issue a document telling which gives number in terms of how much do they export and where.

Ditto on the contact the companies remark from Sylvain. They'll give you what you need. If you want a statistical research report, usually those can be purchased from advertising companies.
