Do/did Yamaha fit Valentino pads on all their clarinets?

I'm pretty sure that Yamaha has NOT used Valentino pads (it is always more cost effective to be in control of your own parts), but they do work great on Yamaha. I have Valentino Masters on my CSG.

Ok, so looking at the Yamaha clarinet website I found no mention of the type of pads until you get up to the 255, which mentions Valentino pads. However, they do not say which ones. I would assume the "greenbacks" then.

The 650 mentions the Lucien Deluxe Pads. These are pretty good when new but if they still have the plastic button in the middle, the skin can (and will) fail around the button after about a year of steady play, causing leaks that are HARD to diagnose!

Then I see the Custom line speak of leather pads (definitely NOT Valentino).

So........the 255 and 450s

The student line uses Valentino pads that have "Yamaha" printed on the pack. Most of these are put in without glue. It is amazing how many actually seal (due to the deep seat). I usually replace the pads for the open keys.

I've seen recent Yamaha student models (last several years) with both Valentino pads and bladder pads.

I got a new 650 for a backup a couple of months ago. No plastic buttons in the pads.

Off topic: This, at the bottom of the lineup of Yamaha's "professional' instruments, is an excellent horn. Like all the Yamahas I've ever tried, it plays great right out of the box. Excellent intonation, even the low F. Whatever the pads, they seal superbly. It is just a little more resistant than my CSG's. Btw, though I may have gotten a good price since I know the dealer (didn't ask), I paid <$1500, including tax.
