Anyone know or have heard about this item I found in a box at a music repair store. I have no idea of it’s age nor popularity.

Never heard of it, could be more than 50 years old. How does it play?

Open. Easy to blow in tune. Buffet friendly. Double lip easy to do. As far as I can tell it has been used with an unconventional ligature which leaves two indentations.

Hi All,

Funny story: I helped Mr. Kell at a performance when I was just a high school student!

As it so happened, the Reginald Kell Trio was touring the US in the early 1950s. One stop was in my home town of Sandusky, OH for a concert for the local music group, The Friends of Music.

The organization booked 4-6 concerts every year and Kell's trio was performing at my HS in about 1953-54. I was asked by one of my music teachers if I would like to be the stage person who would move the music stands for the players as needed.

I of course accepted, showed up in a suit, and met the players. It was pretty thrilling and I was able to carry out my duties quietly and professionally.

Your Kell Geometric probably dates from around the 1960s as I bought one around that time. I still have my Geometric (MO) but I must add that they were made in two versions. One for standard bore and one for the then-popular English wide bore. The later is marked 1010 on the front. Quite okay as far as I'm concerned and have done many shows using it. One front rank, and much recorded English player used a Kell
